American restaurateurs
shamelessly slap the term "bistro" on everything
from awful chain outlets to places with $55 entrees. The
French reserve the term for modest neighborhood spots like
Petit Robert Bistro that unpretentiously serve delicious,
relatively simple meals at workingman's prices. "Little
Bob's" hits the bistro bull's-eye squarely with fine
traditional Parisian fare, brusque but professional service,
and nary an entrée over $20. C'est le luxe sans le luxe.

where she raised her three children, one of whom is
Jacky Robert. Her guests, children, grandchildren,
and great-grandchildren, all covet her riz au lait.
The recipe has been in the family for ages.

of our French Table. No need to speak French to enjoy

We are very excited as we
plan the opening of this new concept at a fantastic
location. If you want to have an early view of the menu,
click on the picture. We have ordered French windows to
give the extraordinary wide and bright front even more
openness. The French classics will be served in dishes
and bowls, and as was done in the 1960s, you will dish
out the food onto your plate yourself. This will allow
you to start eating at your own pace, and your food will
arrive hot each time your course is ready from the
kitchen. We have found a very attractive and
competent manager. Her name is Cristie. A bientot...

Petit Robert Bistro
Boston overflows with French
restaurants, from the expensively elaborate, to the
esoterically wine-centric, to the Americanized and
debased. The three PETIT ROBERT BISTRO
locations manage to push through the scrum by delivering
what a true Parisian bistro is supposed to: modestly
prepared dishes of quality ingredients served without too
much pomp. It unabashedly plates escargot, frog legs,
calf's brains, and foie gras, as well as less-scary dishes
like coq au vin, beef bourguignon, and steak frites, plus
killer desserts like soufflé au chocolat and île
flottante. But its good bistro bones show best in the
weeknight-friendly prices: no entrée cracks the $20
barrier.

Assistant Pastry Chef at
our Columbus location, Beronica Cadavid, is
expecting a baby and we at PRB are rejoicing at this
prospect. The Doctor thinks it is going to be a boy.
